The former Chairman of the Central Bougainville Combined Council of Elders, Chief JOHN DONA has sent his condolences to the family and relatives of the Late JOSEPH WATAWI who passed away at the Buka General Hospital after a long illness this afternoon.
MR. DONA called from ARAWA and told New Dawn FM that he was saddened at the news of the leader’s passing.
He said that on behalf of the Central Bougainville chiefs he also acknowledged the enormous contributions that MR WATAWI did on the Peace Process and also as the first ABG member representing the people of Selau and also he was the first Vice President to the Late JOSEPH KABUI in the ABG first house, in 2005.
MR. DONA said that MR. WATAWI as the member for SELAU was also the only member who tested the referendum vote in his constituency before the actual vote in 2019.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.

ABG Minister for Culture and Tourism, Rose PIHEI says the promotion and opening of the Sorom Tsuana or Chiefs House in Sorom village is the beginning of creating unity throughout Bougainville by resorting to the Village Governments as a way for uniting the people.

She made these remarks at the Grand opening of the Sorom Tsuana which is owned by four clans around Sorom village on the Northern tip of mainland Bougainville island today.

Mrs Pihei said that today's celebration is a sign of unity with cultural groups attending this opening.

She said that the Council of chief system is the government closer to the people of Bougainville.

MRS. PIHEI acknowledged the groups that performed at the ceremony stating that the group were not invited to perform and this only shows the willingness of our people are willing to participate at this unique celebration.

New Dawn Fm acknowledges that this is the first Tsuana to be opened in North Bougainville.
