Former drug users talk about their experiences

Three former drug users have quit their habit after realising they were hurting their families.

And they have come out to raise the alarm with other possible drug users before it is too late.

The three - named only as Malcolm, Garry and Brian - told New Dawn FM of their personal experiences as drug users and how they are trying their best to fit in back into the community after quitting drugs.

They also appealed to other drug users to quit as continued use will ruin their lives.

The three said that they were slowly recovering from nightmares and other problems after quitting drugs.

The Catholic Family Life centre based at Hahela encourages drug users to quit and become good citizens in their communities.

Since their testimonies were aired on New Dawn FM, the station received many calls from listeners for us to replay this program.

We also provided a copy of the program to the NBC Karai Radio.

Broadcast calls on leaders to put people first

Participants on this week’s Tokstret Show have called on all leaders to put the people first instead of themselves.

The panel included Dr Joe Vilosi, United Church Bishop Tim Arther, businessman Thomas Raban and Mrs Monica Taga from the Bougainville Inter-Church Forum.

The theme for the show was Leadership at all levels of the community.

The panel called on leaders to network with the people and not to work in isolation from their communities.

The Tokstret Show was broadcast live on NBC Karai service and relayed on NBC Bougainville.

New Dawn FM was invited and recorded most of the discussion at the show.

CHM’s new program bonanza for New Dawn FM

New Dawn FM this afternoon signed a memorandum of understanding with the Chin H Meen studios in Port Moresby to air four programs on New Dawn FM starting next Wednesday.

The 12 month agreement obliges Chin H Meen to provide four recorded programs and New Dawn FM is to find sponsors for the programs which will be broadcast each week.

The four programs are Niupela Hits to be aired between 3.30 and 5.30 Wednesday, CHM One Hundred Percent Hits to be aired between 4.30 and 6.30, CHM Hit Machine to be played between 11am and 1 pm Saturdays and Gospel Praise to be played between 10am and 12 noon Sundays.

New Dawn FM’s Manager, Aloysius Laukai, thanked Chin H Meen for choosing New Dawn FM as one of the few radio stations in PNG to air the programs.

He said New Dawn FM would use the program so the Bougainville people can get quality sound straight from the Chin H Meen studios in Port Moresby.

Mr Laukai Laukai thanked the Chin H Meen’s marketing consultant, Auburn Antonio Adraincem for making it possible for New Dawn FM to air these programs.

Because of copyright issues many PNG radio stations are not allowed to air Chin H Meen recordings.
