240323 Importance of National Womens Day
New Dawn FM News
The National Womens Day is a day set aside to recognize and acknowledge and celebrate Papua New Guinean women breaking boundaries in a world once dominated by men.
It is also to acknowledge the life changing roles of women as mothers, professionals, grandmothers, daughters and their contributors to building up of their families, communities and nation as a whole.
This day was officially set aside in 1974 and 1975 by the governing council under the leadership of late Grand Chief Sir Michael Thomas Somare and the House of Assembly, who at the time recognized the important role that women play in society and towards nation building specialized for women.
