Speaking on behalf of the ‘Meri football’, Julianna Tamaru the representative of Bougainville Women Football highlighted the importance of women in football.
She told NBC, football changes the lifestyle of women and it becomes part of them growing up if they started playing at a young age.
She even gave example of the two Bougainville girls who have made it to the Hekari United.
“ These two girls Michaelyn Butubu from Buin in the Southern Bougainville and Calista Maneo from Hangan village Buka Island.
They trained and started at ‘Meri Football’ and if they are the best. I believe Meri Football can produce more women football player in Bougainville’’. Tamaru stated.
As the regional games will be held this year, Tamaru as the Women football representative is appealing to women soccer players in South, Central, Atolls and North Bougainville to take part.
“ You never know soccer can change your life as a woman.” Tamaru said.
She also urge the Bougainville Government Members and supporters to support ‘Meri Football in Bougainville.
