260123 Buka General Hospital has run short on medical drugs to treat patients

THE Buka General Hospital have run short on drugs and medical supplies to keep operations flowing at the outpatient to treat the SICK patients for the last two weeks.
Both adults and children have been sent home due to shortage on drugs and medical supplies.
On certain days there were no nurses and doctors available at the hospital to attend to the sick patients adults and children alike.
According to a senior nurse who wishes to remain anonymous said their awards were not paid since last year.
The Allied workers association which includes all specialist doctors such as dentists, psychiatrists etc. have been on strike and refuse to attend to waiting patients.
Attempts to speak to Director medical services Dr Mathias Tovilu were unsuccessful.
However, ABGs Health Secretary Mr Clement Totavun has clarified that the issue of medical drugs and supplies is mainly done by the National Department of Health in Port Moresby.
Meanwhile, Buka Generals Hospital staff including nurses and doctors are still under the Department of Personal Management and not under the ABG Department of Health. ENDS///AK
