The people of Autonomous Region of Bougainville have been given the assurance by the ABG Health Secretary that the health facilities and hospitals are operational.
‘I want to assure the people of Bougainville that our health facilities and hospitals are functional. We have not closed down our health facilities. The health services are functional.
‘And I want to rebut the claims by Dr Velosi that our health facilities are deteriorating. We have issues requiring a required number of health workers in our health facilities,’ he said.
Mr Totavun added that the last recruitment of the health facilities was done in 2016 and 2017.
He has since made a submission for the minimal required man power to be recruited into our workforce which is yet to be made by the Department of Personnel Management (DPM).
Totavun added that there has been a spike in the influenza outbreak in Buka town area and other parts of Bougainville which is being closely monitored by the ABGs Department of Health Team.
‘If the situation goes beyond the National Department of Health (NDOH) niupla pasin then the red flags might be reissued,’ he said. ENDS///AK
