281122 Inclusion of Rights of children must be included in the education curriculum
New Dawn FM News
Every child in a classroom has the right to receive the same kind of knowledge and skill for survival.
Sr Lorraine Garasu made mention at the launch of the sixteen days of activism to end gender violence, family or sexual violence.
She said the teacher must be able to know the needs of every child in the classroom and needs unseen by physical defect.
‘Hearing disability and slow learning ability are some of the factors we can not physically see with our eyes, she said.
Sr Garasu said we are reminded to include children with disability to be taught life skills to assist them into adulthood.
‘Parents have a big role to educate their children with special needs. She added as an advocator she also has a bigger role to play to identify and work with children with special needs.
Sr Garasu says her helpers at the Nazareth centre are encouraged to identify children with physical or non-physical needs.
‘So, when a child grows up he or she will know he or she is valued and has equal rights,’ she said. ENDS//AK
