The Torte Community needs assistance to complete church building in Baniata, Selau Constituency.
A local community elder said the community is raising funds to complete the Catholic Church building in the village.
‘The Community has sacrificed today to cleaning up the drains around town starting at the backstreet from New Household past New Dawn FM down to Hospital and opposite Ela Motors down towards BCM,’ he added.
Tortes old church building was built in the early 1990s was broken down to have it rebuilt.
Deputy Prime Minister Hon John Rosso and Bougainville’s Regional Member Hon Peter Tsiamalili had initial contributions of K10,000 and K5,000.00 respectively.
Meanwhile, Member for Selau Constituency Hon Paul Cheung had also contributed K500 to open the church building account.
It is only fitting that the community also contribute to assist the work of the gospel in the Selau Constituency.
The community has opened a bank account with Bank of South Pacific and are appealing to other community members living outside of Bougainville to assist by contributing to this important course. Bank details will be posted on our website soon. ENDS///AK
