The Bougainville Constitutional Planning Commission is carrying awareness throughout the Bougainville and one team each have been meeting with the people in Central, South and North Bougainville.
The awareness teams have so far covered many constituencies since the awareness program started last week.
The awareness will continue into the month of June until all areas are covered.
New Dawn FM and Radio Bougainville give out daily schedules to support the work of the Commission.
The Bougainville Constitutional Planning Commission is tasked by the Bougainville Government to visit all constituencies and wards and get the people’s views on the new constitution for the independent state of Bougainville.

As the Campaign intensifies throughout Bougainville, NEW DAWN FM managed to cover the campaign by candidate for North Bougainville and President of the Bougainville Veterans Federation, MR JOE PAIS and the former ABG President, CHIEF DR.JOHN MOMIS at the Tinputz District office.
The campaign here was different as the ward members from the two community governments, TAONITA TINPUTZ and TAONITA TEOP and the people of Tinputz attended this small but powerful campaign in Tinputz.
The team then left for Wakunai on their way to Central and South Bougainville.
The team already covered Buka island and outer islands of Pororan, Taiof, SAPOSA and Petats before turning to SELAU/SUIR/TINPUTZ and on to Wakunai this afternoon.
Meanwhile two chiefs on Bougainville have appealed to the people of Bougainville to choose good leaders and also make sure this election is peaceful as in previous elections.
The former Chairman of the Central Bougainville Combined Council of elders, JOHN DONA and the Buin Police Station commander, Inspector JOHN POPUI called on the people of Bougainville to make sure this election is conducted peacefully.

As done in the past, NEW DAWN FM will allow Political campaign on radio but all ten minutes talk will be pre-recorded and must be paid before broadcast.
This will be of great benefit for Regional seat candidates as we are broadcasting in BUKA, BUIN and ARAWA.
Guidelines set for this election support is that Candidates or their nominees must only talk on their party platforms and policies.
Calling names of other candidates will not be allowed on radio.
Campaign on radio will end 48 hours before polling.

300522SOUTH BOUGAINVILLE POLICE APPEAL FOR CLEAN CAMPAIGN PERIOD

South Bougainville Police are appealing to the people of South Bougainville to conduct clean campaign during this June which is a full month of campaign period for the 2022 PNG General Election.

Buin Police Station Commander, INSPECTOR JOHN POPUI made this call from Buin town this afternoon.
He called on candidates and their supporters to conduct clean campaigns and talk on their party policies and not talk dirty about other candidates.
INSPECTOR POPUI said Elections in South Bougainville have been quite and called on the people to maintain the same spirit this election.
INSPECTOR POPUI also called on the people in Buin town and Buin town visitors not to drink in public streets but within their premises.
He Police will be tough on Bottle breakers in Buin town streets as they endanger the lives of the traveling public when they break bottles on the public roads.

300522 DONA CALLS ON THE PEOPLE OF CENTRAL BOUGAINVILLE TO VOTE WISELY.

The former chairman of the Central Bougainville Combine Council of Elders Chairman, JOHN DONA today called on the people of Central Bougainville to listen to all campaigns and decide on who they should vote for this election.
He told New Dawn FM from ARAWA today, that the people must choose the best leader who should represent the people of Central Bougainville in this last National Election.
MR.DONA said that the person that the people will vote must work with the other three National members to support the ABG President, HON ISHMAEL TOROAMA to complete what our fore fathers have fought for over so many years.
He said that the people must not be blinded by promises of cargoes and other unnecessary promises that could prolong our fight for Independence.
The Chief said that the ABG has signed the ERA KONE COVENANT that should guide all leaders to attain Independence between 2025 and 2027.

As of close of nominations last Thursday, 55 Candidates have registered to contest the three Open seats of North, Central and South Bougainville and the one Regional seat currently held by HON PETER TSIAMALILI JNR.
The South Bougainville team registered nine candidates however one candidate, JOHN SANIA nominated in Port Moresby pushing the number to ten.
We covered the order of draw in Buin, South Bougainville and these are the South Bougainville Candidates numbers.

The management and staff of New Dawn FM wish to send their deep condolences to the wife and family of the LATE ANDREW TONIVEN TANAHAN who passed on at 12 Midnight at his Lontis village, Haku constituency, BUKA island.
Before the Bougainville conflict, the late ANDREW TANAHAN was one of the pioneer Bougainville Broadcasters who joined the DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION AND EXTENSION SERVICES, Radio Bougainville station in Kieta, Central Bougainville.
The late ANDREW TANAHAN worked in Kieta and resigned to join New Dawn FM when it started broadcasting in Buka in 2009.
He was one of the Bougainville’s voice with other radio personalities, the late ALOYSIUS RUMINA, the LATE ALOYSIUS NASE, the LATE CHRISTINE TALEI, the Late PAUL MAX HALIKEN the late SAM SAWA who also joined New Dawn FM in 2010.
Others that joined the National service were the Late JUSTIN KILI, Late JOHN BILLY TOKOME, the late CAROLUS KETSIMUR with the former ABG deputy speaker who is now one of the Bougainville Constitutional Planning Committee Commissioners.
Others still active today are, ROBERT ANESIA, JOSEPH MOROKANA, LAWRENCE BANAE,THOMAS KATHOA, ALOYSIUS SEMI and PHILIP BAKATAU, PAMELA DASIONA,DELWIN KETSIAN.
We at New Dawn are sad to hear of his passing and would like to tell the family that we are with you during this time of mourning.

230522 PRICE OF FUEL HAS DROPPED BUT PMV FARES HAVE NOT CHANGED

A concerned citizen has called on the Autonomous Bougainville Government or who ever is the Price Controller to make sure that PMV fares throughout the region is reduced as the Government has subsidized fuel prices throughout the country.
The concerned citizen who wants to remain anonymous said that the ICCC has issued warning to PMV operators in Port Moresby to reduce prices but that has not reached Bougainville yet.
He said that PMV owners must be mindful that the Government has reduced fuel prices by K1.40 per liter and therefore fares must be reduced accordingly.

230522BOUGAINVILLE WILL MOVE SAYS PRINCIPAL OF LEMAKOT CHW TRAINING COLLEGE.

The Principal of Lemakot Community Health Workers Training College in Central New Ireland, CATHREEN SONGONAI has praised Bougainville leaders for supporting the Arawa School of Nursing which is running the General Nursing and Diploma courses and now the TANAMALO Community Health Workers Training School which is running Certificate courses.
Speaking at the first graduation of 22 students, MS SONGONAI said that when she visited the Tanamalo proposed site in 2014 there was nothing to start off the School.
Now she had witnessed the first graduation she has found out that the former Regional member JOSEPH LERA had built a classroom and ONE MILLION KINA was given by the ABG under the vice President, PATRICK NISIRA for building two more buildings. She said she believes in the Bougainville leaders that can really support institutions like the Nursing Colleges in the region.
She said that both ARAWA and TANAMALO have progressed and will soon replace buildings that were used to start the schools.
MS SONGONAI said that the LEMAKOT CHW TRAINING SCHOOL receives nothing from the New Ireland Provincial Government.

Two candidates in the PNG General election contesting the North Bougainville seat have vowed to support the former ABG President in the coming election.
Speaking at the introduction of MOMIS to the people of Buka this morning, candidates, MARCHELLIN GETSI LARIS a former BRA and DONALD HAMAO TATO called on the people of Bougainville to vote for the last man standing to complete what him and other great Bougainville leaders dreamed, fought and died for that is an Independent and prosperous Bougainville.
The two said other young leaders have all the time to contest once Bougainville becomes independent within the timeframe captured in the ERA KONE COVENANT.
They said that the old man must return to the house to complete what they have started in the 60s and up until today.
