NEW DAWN ON BOUGAINVILLE

This is a testimony of a Religious Sister from BUIN, South Bougainville studying in Rome.
We are posting it with the approval of SR.NOELYNE PHILOMENA PAUPAU.
My adventure at the Vineyard of Christ. Faith leads me to explore and discover the true meaning of Life and the marvelous beauty of the purpose of my existence as a creature of our Loving heavenly father.
I undersigned Sr .Noelyne Philomena Paupau, 29 years of age born on the 2nd of February 1992, third born child out of five daughters of Leo Paupau and Bibian Touruka. Originally from the villages of Luirau and Kaitu, at St. Aloysius Conzaga Tabago parish, Konnou constituency, Buin district south Bougainville, Papua New Guinea.

My formation adventure 2013
At the age of 20 years, I decided to leave my dearest ones, families and friends and my home sweet home Buin, in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville, Papua New Guinea. I went to Western Samoa, Apia to do my religious formation within the Congregation of Sisters Missionary of the faith. I came to know this congregation through my big brother Fr. Philemon Korake Paupau, who studied canon law 9years ago in Italy, Rome.
My Formative Experience 2018-2021
Share: To be give a change to study Religious science and psychology at the Pontifical university of St.Thomas Aquinas, Angelicum, Rome, is something I never imagined. As I think of this privilege, I am greatful to God and my Superior General and her counsel for believing and trusting me as a first Papua New Guinean within the reality of the Missionary Sisters of the faith that I am intellectually capable of studying Religious Science in Rome.
This humble experience but at the same time it challenges me to appreciate the historical places in the eternal city of Rome, deepening my faith and connect myself closer to God, so that I would be better prepared for the mission that is awaiting me back in pacific and in the world.
“The experience of being in an International Community of SMF helps me understands and live the SMF charism as God’s special gif. It’s a gift I have to embrace it wholeheartedly with an undivided heart and spirit, by following the footprint of mother foundress Anna Marie Andreanni and father Padre Luigi Graziotti.
My formation experience here in Rome, helps me to value different faces of SMF from different cultural backgrounds, learned from each other and share our different talents and kills in our common journey to fulfil the will of God through our mission among all the human race.

300921 LANDOWNERS OF TOREMANA AND MANETAI STORM MINING OFFICE

Landowners of Toremana Joint Venture and KALIA and Manetai limestone landowners this morning stormed the Bougainville Mining Office complaining that the Mining office have delayed granting exploration licenses to their companies.
The team led by the President of the Bougainville Veterans Federations, MR. JOW PAIS and former ABG Member representing Former combatants from the Central Bougainville, GLYN TOVIRIKA.
And from the MANETAI group the group was led by MR. JULIAN TAVI they had the same issue.
The Chief Secretary and the Mining Department officials immediately sat with the landowners and discussed their issues to iron out their differences.
The Toremana landowners leader, JOE PAIS told New Dawn FM that their application for a license has taken eleven months for the Department to consider and they were frustrated.
From the office is that the Mining Council looked at unresolved issues and wanted these to be sorted out before license was given to them.
However, the council will meet tomorrow and find a way forward for the future of exploration in the said areas.

The member for South Bougainville and Minister for ICT, Honorable TIMOTHY MASIU today welcomed MR. ROBIN FLEMING CSM , Group CEO for the Bank of South Pacific in Buin town.
MR. FLEMING stayed for few hours with staff of the Bank in Buin town before returning to Arawa.
He also did a courtesy call on the member in his Buin office and discussed ways of upgrading the Buin Bank to a Branch status.
The member and his staff also gave gifts to the CEO and his delegation before leaving Buin.
Since the member, Timothy MASIU became the member of Parliament many international organizations and groups have visited Buin committing support to the South Bougainville Town in Buin.
Road infrastructures for Buin town has improved with plans to build the Buin International market, Buin airstrip and other services never seen before in South Bougainville.
The member has also established office in Buin and also built the members residence in Buin town.

260921SUPERANNUATION AND LIFE INSURANCE REVIEW COMMITTEE IN BOUGAINVILLE

The Superannuation and Life Insurance Review Committee with the BANK OF PAPUA NEW GUINEA are currently in Buka to have a public forum at the Adieves Guest House tomorrow Monday morning.
The meeting will start at 9am BST.
Company representatives in Bougainville, Business Houses and anyone interested is welcomed to attend the meeting tomorrow.
The purpose of the meeting is to gauze the views of interested parties, retirees and former POSF beneficiaries to come and tell the review committee on areas that the review committee can look at in improving superannuation services in Papua New Guinea.
This would be a great opportunity for Business Houses in Bougainville get up to date information on how their organizations can also join the Superannuation and Insurance services for their workers.
Committee members, PETER SAMUEL Manager Superannuation and Life Insurance, Deputy Chairman of the Committee PETER JOHN AITSI and the Assistant Governor of the BANK of PAPUA NEW GUINEA, ELLISON LW PIDIK spoke on New Dawn FM this afternoon explaining on the meeting tomorrow.
The meeting will be free.

240921PRESIDENT CALLS FOR THE SURRENDER OF ARMS

The President of the Bougainville Veterans Federation, JOE PAIS this afternoon called on the people of Bougainville especially former combatants, Business people and those who have guns at home to surrender them to Police.
Speaking at the BEL ISI Park this afternoon, MR. PAIS said that he was not happy many former combatants did not surrender their guns resulting in criminal activities now happening in the region using weapons.
He said his federation will be doing a submission to the ABG to enact a Firearms act for Bougainville to make it illegal for people to have guns and also make death penalty for people who use guns to harass people and even kill people.
MR. PAIS said that the Bougainville veterans had reconciled with the PNG Security forces in Rabaul and promised not to fight again and there was no need to have guns in the region.
MR. PAIS said that the Bougainville Veterans will be campaigning for the 3rd round of weapons disposal to make sure all weapons are removed before 2025.
He called on people engaged in illegal activities using weapons to stop and also report people who have guns in their homes so the veterans can recover and dispose them.

230921MEMBER BOBOS WANTS LAW AND ORDER TO BE STRENGTHENED

The ABG member for PEIT, BENARD BOBOS who was the only ABG member who attended today’s peaceful protest in Buka town said that we must address issues through the law and justice system and not to use force or confrontation when dealing with issues.
MR. BOBOS who received the petition from the women and former combatants said that he will present their petition to the President and the Bougainville Executive Council.
He said that he does not want former combatants to take up arms against criminals but report suspects to Police to deal with them.
MR. BOBOS said that once confrontation using weapons gets out of hand it can derail our delicate Peace process which we don’t want a repeat of what happened in Bougainville.

240921ABG TO CELEBRATE ONE YEAR ANNIVESARY NEXT WEDNESDAY

The ABG will celebrate One-year anniversary of the TOROAMA-NISIRA government next Wednesday September, 29th, 2021.
The small ceremony will be held at the Hutjena Secondary School Hall the place where the inauguration dinner for the fourth house was held last year.
Guided by the Six Points strategy, our government delivered a clear roadmap to attain political independence for Bougainville no earlier than 2025 and no later than 2027.
The Acting Chief secretary, SHADRACH HIMATA called on the Bougainville Public service to support and celebrate the milestone achievements of our government.

240921 BUKA EXCOMBATANTS STAGE PEACEFUL MARCH IN BUKA TOWN

Family of the Missing people at sea and Ex combatants from Buka this afternoon staged a peaceful march in Buka town condemning Sea Piracy in Bougainville.
The former combatants and their leaders called on those involved to stop immediately as the law will deal with them.
The story of sea piracy rose in Buka after the ABG Minister CHARRY NAPTO ,his wife and son and four others were declared missing at sea when their boat travelling to Nissan from Buka failed to arrive to its destination.
And because similar incidents happened with similar circumstances in the past,
the Attorney General Hon. Ezekiel Masatt requested the coronial inquest following allegations of foul play that resulted in the ill-fated boat and six of its seven passengers going missing.
Today’s peaceful march was for the former combatants to tell the people of Bougainville that this is not what they fought for.

They chanted that they fought for Independence for Bougainville and wants these activities to stop immediately.
They also called for these activities to stop and called on other ex-combatants to report anybody in their area that is involved in the activities to the Police.

230821 WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO STAND AS CANDIDATE

The Bougainville Electoral Commissioner, MR. GEORGE MANU has also clarified who is eligible to stand for the Bougainville Community Government Elections.
Speaking at a Press Conference in Buka this morning he said, A person is eligible to be a candidate for election as a ward representative if:
The person is on the roll for the ward, the person’s nomination as a candidate is supported by at least two electors of the ward and if the Person is acting of his or her own free will.
The deadline for the candidates residency qualification at the ward level is August, 2021.
He said that the responsibility to determining candidate eligibility rests with the Returning Officer and the Assistant Returning Officer.
A candidate can also withdraw their nomination before the end of the nomination period.
MR. MANU also stated that for the Community Government Elections, there will be no fees for candidates nominating.
