The people of AITA have vowed to protect the lives and properties of the travelling public on the main BUKA/ARAWA highway after a reconciliation ceremony between WARREN SILAS (Black Pussy) and the owner of JODASH HIRE CAR SERVICE at KUKUAVO, AITA village yesterday.
The ceremony was witnessed by five ABG members, PAUL CHEUNG the member for Selau, the member for Taonita/ Tinputz, MORRIS OPETI,CALLAN TANAHAN former combatants member for North Bougainville, JUNIOR DAKE former combatants member for Central Bougainville and the host member, JASON BARANANGKO, and four Ministers, Minister for Mining, RODNEY OSIOCO, Minister for DPI, JOLINDA PAUL, Minister for Community Development, MR.GITOVIA and the former combatants member for South and Minister for Police, THOMAS TARI.
In his remarks, the owner of Jodash Hire Cars, DAVID TSITOA said that he was innocent in this problem, but had to negotiate peace so that his business can operate again throughout the region.
He said he had made huge losses in the past six months due to this problem that entangled his company in AITA.
MR. TSITOA had to present the five door Land-cruiser to Warren SILAS and Cash of Ten thousand Kina as compensation for the death of his brother.
Total funds used during the ceremony including the use of his vehicles to the ceremony and other activities added up to TWO HUNDRED THOUSAND KINA.
Meanwhile, WARREN SILAS in accepting these payments from JODASH owner promised to make sure AITA is free from such activities in the future.
He also promised to make sure JODASH HIRE cars are protected when they are on the road.
MR. SILAS presented a Pig and food to DAVID TSITOA and the delegation who attended the ceremony.
A signboard will be painted and erected to mark this Change from HOT SPOT to SWEET SPOT.
