The Chief of the Bougainville Police Service Deputy Commissioner Police, FRANCIS TOKURA is calling on the people of Bougainville to celebrate the New Year quietly.
He told New Dawn FM that he was happy no major incident occurred during the Christmas period and wants the people to maintain this trend.
Deputy Commissioner Police also thanked his Policemen and women for their hard work despite funding constraints.
He warned the public to celebrate at home and not on the streets as Police will be in full force to maintain peace throughout the new-year period.
He said that the Bougainville Police Service was now gearing up for the Bougainville Regional seat by-elections.
