Ishmael Toroama has been declared the President-elect of the Autonomous Region of Bougainville in the fourth (4th) Bougainville House of Representatives.
Mr Toroama was declared President-elect at the Hutjena United Church Counting center by Returning Officer, Peter Wanga this morning.
Toroama dominated the presidential race when polling commenced in South Bougainville and continued his dominance through to the elimination stages until his declaration.
After the twenty third elimination which saw Peter Tsiamalili Jnr bow out of the race, Toroama was able to clear the absolute majority of 42, 204 votes with 51, 317 votes to secure the presidency and surpass his closest rival, Simon Dumarinu.
Meanwhile the declaration of the North Bougainville Ex-Combatants Seat this morning concluded the counting for all constituency and regional seats in the 2020 ABG General Elections.
Callan Tanahan Matuna was declared this morning as the member-elect for the seat from amongst a total of twenty-two candidates who contest the seat.
