PM Congratulates Toroama

The Prime Minister, James Marabe has congratulated ABG President-elect Ishmael Toroama following his declaration as the fourth ABG President.
In a statement from the Prime Minister’s officer, Mr Marabe extended the well wishes of the National Government and the people of PNG to Mr Toroama.
The Prime Minister said he was looking forward to working with President-elect Toroama in progressing consultations on the outcome of the recent referendum.
He adds that this will include securing a long term economic development and lasting peace for the people of Bougainville.
The Prime Minister revealed that he will be meeting with President-elect Toroama in the coming weeks to discuss the next steps to convening a meeting of the Joint Supervisory Body (JSB).
This will be to reaffirm PNG and Bougainville’s mutual commitment to peace and find a way forward.
President-elect Toroama also shared the Prime Minister’s sentiment on addressing these outstanding issues concerning the Post Referendum Period.
After the formation of government Toroama will announce his cabinet who will be responsible for tackling these issues at the JSB meetings.
