300720 LATE SIR PAUL LAPUN FAMILY SAY THANKYOU TO THE TWO MINISTERS

The family of the late SIR PAUL LAPUN who was the first knight in Papua New Guinea and the first ever Bougainville member of the House of Assembly, were honoured to pay respect to the Minister for National Planning and member for SAM BASIL and the Minister for Communications and member for South Bougainville TIMOTHY MASIU for respecting their leader and presenting FIFTY THOUSAND KINA towards their Primary school.
Next of kin, MR. SMOKIE told the leaders that they have set foot on the soil of BANA where their paramount chief first represented Bougainville before independence of Papua New Guinea.
They said that they were happy that the member for South Bougainville has recognised their leader and have decided to build a monument at his resting home in MARIGA.
The family member shared a bit of history of their chief the late SIR PAUL LAPUN who entered the House of Assembly in 1964 as the only Bougainville member representing Bougainville from North to South Bougainville.
They said that the three seats plus the Regional seat were created in the next house.
The two chiefs presented chicken feather hats to the two Ministers as a sign of gratitude to them.
This ceremony was conducted during the launch of the BANA special Economic Zone in Bana last Thursday.

300720MANOB SIGN LAND USE AGREEMENT

The chiefs and the people of Manob village in Selau last Sunday signed a Land use agreement with the landowners to make sure the water supply project been funded under the DSIP of the North Bougainville member, WILLIAM NAKIN to make sure the water project is maintained and is sustainable in the long run.
Paramount chief of Manob CORNELIUS OMI told the people present that the agreement is to make sure the project is secured and that there will be no fee charged by landowners for this project.
MR. OMI thanked the member for North Bougainville, WILLIAM NAKIN and his DDA for approving the funding of this project.
He said that this project is for the mothers who have for many years had to work long distances to fetch drinking and cooking water for their families.
MR. OMI said this would be a thing of the past if the project come on later this year.
He called on the youths of MANOB to look after this project that will benefit the entire village and to where they will pipe this water to in Selau.

Bougainvilleans are being urged to remain vigilant and to comply with the State of Emergency orders in light of the growing concerns over the COVID 19 pandemic which has already hit Port Moresby.
Former Autonomous Bougainville Government President James Tanis has urged Bougainvilleans within Bougainville and around the country to adhere to the restrictions placed by the SOE to mitigate the spread of the virus which is suspected to have claimed one life already in the nation’s capital.
Mr Tanis who is vying for the ABG Presidency in the 2020 ABG General Elections made this statement while on the campaign trail.
“In the event of an increase in the number of reported cases there may be unnecessary panic by the general public but I ask you all to remain steadfast and to keep calm,” Mr Tanis said.
“The SOE Orders clearly outline the protocols that we all must follow to avoid contracting this deadly virus that has already claimed thousands of lives throughout the world,” Mr Tanis added.
“For us in Bougainville it is no different, we must follow these measures to safe guard ourselves and protect our children, our families and our people,” Tanis stressed.
“I also want you all to maintain a demeanor of optimism. My people of Bougainville we will get through this pandemic. We are a resilient people who have faced adversity and prevailed time and time again and by the grace of God we will rise above this together as we have done so many times over,” Mr Tanis said.
Mr Tanis has also encouraged other candidates in the election to lead by example and follow the SOE Orders on the 2020 ABG Elections while also taking the time educate the people on COVID 19 pandemic.
Mr Tanis said that most of the communities that the candidates are reaching out to are rural based communities that have little to no access to proper information on the pandemic.
“We all have a part to play in this, every candidate should make it their business to stress the importance of continued vigilance and adherence to the SOE Orders as part of their campaigns,” Tanis said.

290720MASIU SAYS BOUGAINVILLE WILL MOVE FROM SOUTH BOUGAINVILLE

The member for South Bougainville and Minister for Communications, TIMOTHY MASIU has called on the people of South Bougainville to rise up and move South Bougainville economically as South Bougainville has everything to create the economy needed to run the new nation.
Speaking at the Ground Breaking ceremony of the SIX MILLION KINA Buin international market and launch of the Five year development plan 2018 -2022 in Buin last week.
He said Buin with the proposed THIRTY MILLION KINA Hospital, the market and the Special Economic Zone in Bana and the Siwai Tourism centre, South Bougainville is ready to transform this new nation.
MR. MASIU said that South Bougainville has the land for development and called on the people to allow their land to be used for development to take place.
The Minister for National Planning, SAM BASIL also announced that the economic corridor will be supported firstly with the upgrading of the KANGU wharf.

290720NEWLY ESTABLISHED TINPUTZ HIGH SCHOOL FUNDRAISING EVENT

The newly established ST FRANCIS DE SALE. TINPUTZ High school has launched its fundraising drive to raise funds for much needed buildings for the school.
Principal of the School, MRS RENGETSI NIMA VILOSI told New Dawn FM that the school started taking students early this year after two false starts earlier.
She said that because this is a new School it depends entirely on School fees as kits main source of income, however the school is yet to meet High School standards in terms of infrastructure developments.
The School administration and staff are now embarking on a major fundraising drive, walkathon from Tsunpets to Kokopau this Saturday first of August and are seeking sponsor from Business Houses and the good people of Bougainville.
Any amount can be deposited to the School account, under the Tinputz High School working committee with BSP Buka Branch.
Account number is 1001 578 066.
With pledged amount of FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND KINA by the member for North Bougainville, WILLIAM NAKIN the fundraising drive hopes to raise ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND KINA to build at least two Classrooms and a Teachers house.
People on the highway between Tsunpets and Selau can greet them on Saturday morning and give water and support to the people who will be walking for the school’s development between 4 am and 8 am.

The honorable member for the North Bougainville electorate William Nakin says ABG maintaining the relationship with the National Government is very important.
The honorable member stating the importance of the relationship last evening at the farewell dinner for the Minister for National Planning and his delegation said this is very important because Bougainville will be proceeding to the final ratification which will eventually be decided by the National Parliament.
Mr. Nakin said the people of Bougainville have spoken and the result have been shown that majority of the Bougainvilleans wanted independence however this has to go through the National Parliament for final ratification.
He said this is the process that must take place to complete the formalities that are there to address the issue.

270720BURUNOTUI VOCATIONAL SCHOOL LAUNCHES WATER SUPPLY

THE Burunotui Vocational School has finally launched a project of water supply on Friday the 24th of July 2020 after a long period of not accessible to proper water supply.
The water supply project was completed with funds amounted to K75 500 in which K50 500 came from the office of the Member for North Bougainville Honorable William Nakin and K25,000 from the schools’ subsidy.
The students and stuff have been facing the shortage of water problem since the very beginning and now their need is finally met.
Board Chairman of Burunotui Vocational School Paul Menas extended his acknowledgement to the office of the Member for North Bougainville for the needy support towards the completion of the project.
Mr. Menas also acknowledged the project constructors who faithfully put their efforts for the project to complete as quickly as possible.
He said there are many other improvements that need to be done for the so that the Burunotui Vocational girls school will cater for healthy environment that leads to effective learning.
