The Bougainville Referendum Commission Chairman, BERTIE AHERN this afternoon congratulated the two Governments and the people of Bougainville for reaching this historic point with one more step left to complete a historic and internationally regarded Peace process which the world is watching.
He also congratulated Prime Minister, JAMES MARAPE on his engagement to the process since coming into office and the Bougainville Affairs Minister DR. PUKA TEMU working in partnership with the Bougainville Peace Agreement Implementation Minister, ALBERT PUNGHAU your efforts have been appreciated.
Mr Ahern said that it was an honour to lead the process.
He made these comments after he received the writ for the Bougainville Referendum from the Governor General SIR BOB DADAE just after 4 pm this afternoon in Port Moresby.
