170519 BOUGAINVILLE UNIFICATION CORE GROUP SIGNS MOU WITH ABG

The Bougainville Unification Core Group yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the ABG Department of Peace Agreement Implementation to speed up the reconciliation process Me’ekamui and the twin kingdom as agreed to in the past.
This follows a BEC decision of July 7th 2018 in which was followed by further consultations on May 15th 2019 that also endorsed and approved ONE POINT FIVE MILLION KINA for the unification process.
The parties agreed and reaffirmed the BEC decision that formally mandated the BUCG as the nucleus body that will implement the Bougainville unification.
They also agreed that DPAI and the BUCG quickly facilitate a meeting of the Me’ekamui and twin kingdom leaders.
The meeting also agreed that BUCG also participate in the National reconciliation to make sure the reconciliation is held before the conduct of the Bougainville referendum.
And that the process of procurement is made complying to the financial processes of the ABG and in consistent with the Bougainville Public Finances Management and administrative act 2014.
