040119CHIEF SECRETARY CONDEMNS KILLING
New Dawn FM News
The ABG Chief Secretary, JOSEPH NOBETAU was the first leader to send his condolence after learning of the senseless killing of a young Bougainvillean, Justin Kukue Tsibing in Buka at the weekend.
He said this was senseless act of violence and those responsible must be held to account. Bougainville must learn from history. We must unite and do what is best for all.
MR. NOBETAU said that is what he has been trying to do over the last two years by calling out corruption and bad practice.
He said that Innocent people must not be targeted based on his actions.
Those that wish to call me to account, must do so using lawful means.
The chief secretary said that he was also targeted recently, with his family and attacked on New Year’s Eve in Buka. Simply put, enough is enough. If we are to secure a prosperous future, we must unite as one.
We must all work to rid Bougainville of crime and corruption and meaningless violence. I will not waiver in my work, and I will not be intimidated by these actions.
He and his wife sent their deepest sympathies to Justin’s family. All Bougainvilleans, regardless of background, must unite to condemn this senseless violence.
He called on all Bougainvilleans to show restraint. Violence cannot be countered by more violence. We must work together, unite, and secure a lasting peace, for all. May Justin Kukue Tsibing rest in peace, and may God forgive all of us for allowing this horrendous crime to take place.
