Bougainville would make one of the Pacifica greatest tourist destination says an Australian Citizen and married to a Bougainville woman and owner of EAGLE HARDWARE in Buka, DAVID BONEHAN.
MR. BONEHAN says that Bougainville’s best resources are her people and there are so many beautiful untapped places to visit throughout Bougainville.
The diving and fishing areas should be promoted heaps more as well as visits to local villages with cultural entertainment such as bamboo bands and singsing with cultural dances a must not to mention island trips as they do in Thailand.
MR. BONEHAN was one of many people who commented on our story on the announcement made by owners of True North Cruises at the SASALAN HIHIKUMA festival in Buka last Thursday.
The Captain and the crew and the tour Manager said that they will visit Bougainville again for next year’s Sasalan Hihikuma festival that will be held at the TAHETAHE Primary School.
In his comments, MR. BONEHAN said tourism could become a mega Economical boost to ABG and investment into tourism and promotion should start straight away.
He said he was lucky enough to live on Bougainville for 15 years and every expat that he spoke with fell in love with the people and it's culture so please do more to promote the tourism industry as the benefits far out-weigh any mining venture .
He ended by saying that Bougainville was a true Garden of Eden.
