A total of 6,097 voters voted at the mock referendum vote in the Selau constituency yesterday.
According to the results of the Mock Referendum vote, 5,612 people voted for Independence, 378 people voted for Higher Autonomy and 108 votes were invalid votes.
This means that 92 percent of the voters in the two Community Government areas of Kokopau Urban community Government and Selau Quigen Community Government voted for total break away from PAPUA New Guinea.
According to ward results, SOROM/LAGONO and Ramundata ward a total of 393 voters voted.
In Gohi/Katsinkovere ward 360 people voted, Anake/Ngalaswei ward had 327 voters,Tortei/Sanakova ward had 505 voters,Tarbut/Chunrawana had 499 voters,Siara/Rurei/Papasa ward had 931 voters,Ton/Omsan and Umun ward had 673 votes,Ratsua/Tasui had 184 votes,Porpor/Matasiora had 201 votes, Sokela/Abunman/Tangari/Pipinapena and KONA had 506 votes,Kawex/Merko/Tsikaut/Tenakala/Tsiroge/Tekinbuwei and Kuskus ward had 508 votes,PATUNA ward had 151 votes,KOKOPAU Central had 212 votes,BONUS ward had 273 votes,Manob Togoru had 190 votes and finally the MUNANGA/ KIA ward had 163 votes.
According to the Member for Selau and Parliamentary Referendum Committee chairman, JOSEPH WATAWI voting in wards will make sure everybody will vote in the coming referendum.
He said in many past elections polling booths were located in constituencies making it very difficult for old and disable people to exercise their right to vote.
MR. WATAWI said that he will present the result of the mock referendum vote to the ABG House of representatives at its December session.
