The Director of the YWAM Medical team on board the medical ship, JULIE McLAUGHLIN says that the team will be providing EYE SURGERY, DENTISTRY PRIMARY HEALTH CARE, VACCINATION and BABY CHECK plus other health services to some of the most remote areas of Bougainville.
She was speaking at the launching of the program in Buka today.
MS McLAUGHLIN thanked President Momis for inviting her team to come for the first time to the Autonomous Region of Bougainville.
She said their first visit will be to Nissan island, Torokina, Kunua, South Bougainville and many remote locations on Buka island and the Atolls.
MS McLAUGHLIN said she believes that God has sent them here for such a time as this to help people who don’t have access to life saving medical care.
She said that we can’t cure or treat every disease but what we have we bring.
Yes we will have medicine and medical treatment and that is important but sometimes equally as important is the fact that the people of Bougainville are not forgotten.
Freely we receive donations and freely we give.
She said that on board the ship they have volunteers from Australia, New Zealand, America, Africa, Europe and Papua New Guinea.
