New Dawn FM News
The Prime Minister PETER O’NIEL yesterday officially opened the newly refurbished ARAWA District Hospital with the ABG President, Chief DR. JOHN MOMIS and the Australian High Commissioner to PNG, His excellency BRUCE DAVIS .
The opening took place just before the Prime Minister and his delegation travelled to AROPA airport after the JSB meeting in Arawa.
According to the Prime Minister, Papua New Guinea does not have the money to cater for its Eight Million people and therefore needs partners like the Australian Government, New Zealand Government and the ABG to build such infrastructures that will help all its citizens.
In this case he thanked the Australian government for their contribution towards the refurbishing of the once top hospital in Papua New Guinea.
The Australian High Commissioner BRUCE DAVIES told the gathering that when he first visited the site with the former Bougainville Affairs Minister, SIR PETER BARTER there was nothing here but remains of burnt buildings.
And it had taken the Australian government a total of 34 MILLION KINA to rebuild and set up specific wards that would make the Hospital fully operational to serve the people of Central and South Bougainville.
ABG President, Chief DR. JOHN MOMIS also thanked the governments of Australia and Papua New Guinea for assisting Bougainville at this time when it has no funds to help its own people.
He called on the people to look after the facilities so that our people can really benefit from these facilities.
