A call has been made for ABG to re-enforce the current ABG green Mitch time (BST)which is one hour ahead of PNG time.
Speaking on behalf of the community and residence of Buka, Sohano and Kokopau areas, Mr, Blaise Pihei said, since the endorsement of the ABG green Mitch Time(BST), many people, especially Business houses, public servants and the labor work force, are still following PNG time which could cause our economy to drag.
Mr Pihei when making the comment said, ABG green Mitch Time(BST) was approved and passed
By an act of ABG Parliament in August 2015, those that do not adhere with this are liable for police prosecution and put behind bars as a penalty for failing to comply with that particular piece of law.
According to many concerned citizen of Buka, Sohano and Kokopau, many shops and the public servants open their doors for operation as late as 8.30 or 9am, they are fully supporting the ABG green Mitch Time (BST)

280116Bougainville Business Association to elect a new Executive Body

A high profile meeting organized by the members of the Bougainville Business Association met, last week for the first time since the establishment of the Association 15 years ago.

The purpose of the meeting attended by more than 30 members of the BBA, was to reactivate the Association and try to find means and ways to align every Business houses in the AROB through net working and sharing their business experiences through as one voice.

Since the establishment of BBA in 2000 after the former Bougainville uprising, BBA has switched its operations from pushing the past and present Government of paying compensations to many properties and equipment lost and damaged, members of the BBA have not worked together in line with ABG Economic Department to generate much needed revenue into the Government`s annual budget.

Economic Services Department the regulating body according to many members of the BBA told this medium, that the real reason many BBA members withdrew from being members of BBA in the past, was that ABG was not financially supporting their Businesses in terms of providing financial incentives like, training and securing small, medium and big loans, even though they had approached them with their business proposal in the past, they had to fend for themselves for their survival.
After many issues and ideas discussed during the meeting, a resolution was passed to resolve the office holders of the existing interim Executives members, and elect a new interim body which is now, Mr. Damien Kora as the Interim Chairman, Interim Secretary Mr. Steven Bulut, interim Treasurer Otto and interim Liaison Officer Mr. Joe. Elijah.
In thanking the BBA members for their votes and confidence in electing him, Interim Chairman Damien Kora said, his executives will carry out a number of researches to the many data and file that were lost or miss placed over the last 15 years and bring it together in the next general meeting on the 27th February 2016.
He is now asking all members of Bougainville Business Association, past current and interested or upcoming Businessman and women to attend the next meeting and elect a permanent BBA Executive body to manage and run the affairs of BBA.

280116KUNGKA WANTS TRAINING FACILITY

A paramount chief from Siwai and local hands-craft teacher, HUBERT KUNGKA is looking for support from possible funding sources to build a multi-purpose training centre in Siwai, South Bougainville.
MR. KUNGKA who has been training local craftsmen and women for many years says he wants to impart his skills through a centre to the young generation.
He told New Dawn FM in Buka today that he was concerned many youths were just roaming the villages and his school can make them stay at home and make money.
MR. KUNGKA says that his group is also involved in re-planting vines for making Buin basket and also canes for Cane furniture.
He said that he has knocked on all doors of Bougainville leaders and is worried that the leaders are not concerned at reviving traditional skills.

280116METEN CALLS FOR COMMUNITY SUPPORT

The Officer in Charge of the Community Auxiliary Policing on Bougainville, Senior Constable Leslie Meten today called for community support from the people of Bougainville.
Speaking on New Dawn FM, MR. METEN said that the Community Auxiliary Policing was established to help regular Police in maintaining law and order in the communities.
He said regular Police cannot be everywhere at the same time therefore the Community Auxiliary Police officer represents them in the communities.
MR. METEN said that the concept has worked well in Bougainville and he urged COE and village leaders to support and work with their local Community Auxiliary Police to maintain law and order in their communities.
He said Policing work was the work of everybody but Police presence also helps stop small crimes from happening in the communities.
MR. METEN also announced the 35 Community Auxiliary Police Officers are now undergoing a three-week training at the Hutjena Police Training facility.
He said these 35 were selected from more than 100 applications throughout Bougainville.

Those are the words of the ABG President, Chief DR.JOHN MOMIS when he officially launched phase 2 of the ABG rural electrification program at Hagogohe constituency today.

The community of Hagogohe including ABG Ministers, PNG Power staff, Representative of the Ministry for information of the National Government, Hagogohe chiefs, public servants and other dignitaries, today witnessed phase 2, which is another 12 kilometre extension of power supply into their constituency.

the heavy downpour which dominated the first half of the launching ceremony,did not hinder many people who braved the rain to witness one of yet another milestone historical event in their community.

When launching the rural electricity program, President, Chief DR.JOHN MOMIS told the people that he is happy to launch this program as many people not only the community of Hagogohe but other constituencies also as this ABG High Impact Programs will benefit them and improve their living standard,

The first two projects which saw the launching of the ABG Rural Electricity program launched today by the ABG President Hon. Chief Dr. John Momis also included the distribution of the water tanks which is also part of the ABG High Impact projects in its Special Project funding budget.

According to Hon Robert Hamal Sawa, once every house in his constituency is hooked up with electricity and water supply, he will concentrate on other projects like feeder roads, foot bridges leading to the sea shore and securing an economical source of funding for his constituency.

Hon Sawa appealed to his people to take ownership of the two projects, adding that the water and sanitation program alone in his constituency will run until 2018 with an annual budget of K100, 000 every year during his term of office as their Member representing for ABG.

260116BUKA TOWN DRAINAGE QUESTIONED

Residents of Buka town especially on the BMF road are calling on the Bougainville Technical Department to fix the Drainage system that is now reversing water from the roads into houses.
The drainage built by DEKENAI has been reversing water due to engineering problem as it was not fixed at the close of their sealing project in Buka town at the beginning of this year.
Residents said that they were reminded several times to fix the problem but their calls went into deaf ears.
They said that they have in many occasions approached the engineers to look into the matter.
AND last night again during heavy rain most of the drain water went into the houses.
The residents said that they were afraid if one heavy and continues rain for many days occur all buildings starting from the Kute Service Station down to Poloana will be under water.

270116HAGOGOHE RURAL ELECTRIFICATION LAUNCHING

The Hagogohe constituency the next constituency after Tsitalato will launch its rural electrification project tomorrow.
According to the invitation letter sent to New Dawn FM the cost of the project is ONE POINT SIX MILLION KINA.
The launching will take place at POPOSOKO village at Ten o’clock in the morning.
The member, ROBERT HAMAL SAWA said that he was happy that his people will benefit from the sealed road and now the power that will change the living standard of his people.

A paramount chief of Tinputz and politician, JOE PAIS today thanked the Autonomous Bougainville Government, headed by President Chief DR.JOHN MOMIS for allocating TWO POINT SIX MILLION KINA to upgrade the 14 kilometre SUNVAHORA to NAMATOA road.
He made these remarks on New Dawn FM when talking on the awareness of the road that his committee is engaged in.
MR. PAIS said that this road is a very important economic road for the inland people of NAMATOA and making funding available to fix this road was well accepted by his people.
He said that many people had left their villages because of the condition of this road and fixing this road will make them return home and work on their Cocoa blocks.
MR. PAIS said that these economic roads are important to the economic survival of the region and must be maintained regularly to keep them in good conditions.
