All avenues should be exhausted in an effort to restore Bougainville to its former GLORY days before the Bougainville conflict.
Autonomous Bougainville Government President, John MOMIS says this can only be achieved through education and the government is working on policies to develop an education system that would suit the region.
Many educated and qualified Bougainvilleans left the region during the crisis leaving a vacuum that we need to fill now.

All human beings regardless of age, are equally important in the eyes of the government.
And, because the government is for the people and by the people it has a responsibility to meet and provide for their needs.
There is no such thing as ‘ME NOGAT NAMBA’.
Yesterday, the Member for Mahari, John Tabinaman told more than fifty adult people who graduated from the adult literacy training at Rukusia that they are fortunate to have gained an education.
He said the government is giving a second chance to those who missed out due to the Bougainville crisis that crippled all government services.
Mr. Tabinaman told them that because of them, he was there to celebrate their achievements after completing three to five years of learning.

301015JOHN’S LOST GENERATION

The ABG Member for MaharI and Minister for Lands, John TABINAMAN says the government through the education department is giving its adult people an opportunity to be educated.
Member TABINAMA when addressing a graduation ceremony at RUKUSIA yesterday urged the adult people of the area to attend educational institutions in order to be educated for a living.
Lands Minister and Member for Mahari when presenting certificates to 57 adult students at Rukusia yesterday.
Meanwhile, New Dawn FM Station was represented by Lawrence Banae who filed this report.

301015NOMINATED YEAR

Talks are continuing between the National and ABG Governments on the Referendum issue for Bougainville.
ABG President, Hon. Chief Dr. John Momis reiterated that his government has nominated 2019 as the year to conduct the referendum vote.
President Momis said this will be further debated by the two sides when they meet in the next Joint Supervisory Body meeting before the end of the year.
To be included in this agenda are the exact month, date and other referendum related issues.
There will continue to be dialogue between the two governments and other stakeholders on this very important issue that would have a direct effect on the future of the people of Bougainville.

301015PAWA ULTIMATUM

Leaders of the Nakaripa Clan of IETA Village are demanding an explanation from the government on payment for the Motomoto underground Power cable to Kokopau.
Spokesman for the clan, Herman Tugan says the clan has not received any payment since the signing of the agreement two years ago.
The agreement was signed between the clan and Administrator at that time, Lawrence Dising in December, 2012.
He said in the agreement, it is the Nakaripa Clan that should receive the payment and nobody else.
Mr. TUGAN has warned of a power disruption if they are not given a satisfactory answer.
He has further given the government and the administration 14days in which to respond to their call.

SPORTS…………whilst horse racing may not be a very popular sport in Bougainville, at least this time, it is one that attracts and lures many city and town residents into the premises licensed to telecast these races.

And, the upcoming “Melbourne Cup” is now the talk of the town in the main centers.

Punters addicted to Horse racing in other centers flock into towns and cities to place their bets on their favorite mere.

The Melbourne Cup race, well known for stopping normal government and business activities in Australia will be run at two o’clock in the afternoon next week Tuesday 3rd of November, 2015.

Remember, gamble responsibly.

291015PNG WORLD LEADER

Papua New Guinea is ranked the top country in the world with cancer patients according to a dental officer based at the Buka General Hospital.

Dr. Ruline Pokote told New Dawn FM station that records show that Papua New Guinea leads with the highest number of cancer patients both male and female.

Dr. Pokote said chewing of betel-nut by Papua New Guineans is the main cause, but this can be avoided if people stopped taking that favorite addictive nut.

She said some traditional cultures that involve the chewing betel-nut should be avoided, if one values his life more.

291015LABOUR ON PAY

The Department of Labor in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville has warned employers to abide by the labor laws in regards to employees working conditions.

Senior Provincial Labor Officer, Mr. Solomon Gimis in an interview with New Dawn FM Station said many employers were paying some of their workers very low wages against the labor laws.

One such example is employees with some education and experience being paid the casual wage of three kina an hour, which is wrong.

Mr. Gimis explained that his office also looks after the working conditions of the workers and is appealing to employees not happy with their pay to report to his office.

The workers working condition and pay are covered by International Labor Organization (ILO) convention.

291015PEACE BUILDING FUND

The Autonomous Bougainville Government has the same right and privilege to benefit from the United Nation’s Peace Building Fund.

UN’s Assistant General Secretary for Political Affairs, Mr. Miroslav Jenca announced this good news to Bougainville leaders during his one day visit to the region.

He said like all other member countries, Bougainville and Papua New Guinea can request for financial assistance from the Peace Building Fund.

Mr. Jenca said the UN is impressed by the amount of progress both in development and peace building already achieved by the government.

The successful conduct of three ABG General Elections and two by elections speaks volume of the region’s future.

He said the UN is confident of a bright and progressive future for Bougainville and its people.

Mr. Jenca flew out of the region yesterday on his way back to New York.

291015BOB VOTE

The future well-being of Bougainville and its people is in the hands of all Bougainvilleans living here and outside including overseas countries.

And, because of this, the government has adopted an all Inclusive approach in terms of voting for referendum.

ABG Vice President, Hon. Patrick Nisira says all Bougainvilleans living outside the region will be allowed to vote in the referendum under Bougainville outside Bougainville (BOB).

Vice President Nisira who is also the Minister for Referendum, Veterans Affairs and Peace has just returned from, East New Britain where he met with Bougainvilleans there and informed them of the upcoming referendum vote.

Mr. Nisira said Bougainvilleans outside will be given the opportunity to participate in this election.

He said it is very important for all Bougainvilleans to participate in this exercise because its outcome will determine our political future.

A campaign has already begun explaining this and urging all the people to vote because it is the majority that would determine our future.
