250414HYDROGRAPHICAL SURVEY ENDS TODAY
By Aloysius Laukai
The two Royal Australian Navy boats engaged in the Hydrographical survey of Bougainville waters ahead of the operation render safe in Torokina today completed their tasks and would be returning to Australia tomorrow.
The results of these surveys will be shared with the PNG MARITIME SAFETY AUTHORITY and the Autonomous Bougainville Government to provide accurate charts of the Bougainville waters.
The Ships HMAS SHERPPARTON and HMAS BENALLA have been conducting hydrographical survey operation and ended in Torokina this week.
The ABG member for TOROKINA, STEVEN SUAKO told New Dawn FM in Buka that he will work with the next group who will survey on land to make sure that priority areas are mapped to be cleared when the operation commences in October this year.
He told New Dawn FM that after looking at the documents produced by the Hydrographical Survey team onboard HMAS BENALLA he was convinced that the team had done a good job in making sure ships entering Bougainville in future can use updated data produced by this survey.
MR. SUAKO called on other Bougainvilleans having doubts on this operation to support the program as Bougainville will benefit from this operation.
