By Aloysius Laukai
The former Bougainville People’s Congress Speaker, LINUS KONUKUNG wants the National and ABG Government to intervene on the current killings and retaliations between the people of Bougainville and East Sepik living on Lae’s Back Road to save lives and properties.
MR. KONUNKUNG said that the Government leaders especially the National members for Central and South Bougainville must immediately liaise with their National counterparts and not let the situation to get out of hand.
Speaking from BUIN by phone, MR. KONUKUNG said that he was very concerned at the situation and wants the leaders to intervene now.
On the lives and properties already lost, MR. KONUNKUNG also called on the ABG and the National government including the National Members to negotiate and find an amicable solution to the problem once and for all.
MR. KONUKUNG said that Police must also be seen as protecting lives and properties of innocent people who have been inconvenienced for nothing.
He was very sorry that the leaders have not made any attempts to intervene earlier.

The situation although tense, is now under control: The sepiks are known and friends to our own wantoks: So I spoke to some Siwais living along the Nadzab road to intervene and they went to talk to those sepiks: They returned and told me that it was a family problem (between husband and wife), where the wife went and told the sepik relatives (who are friends of our own wantoks) ending up in the confrontation:
Our wantoks told them (sepiks) that we all know each other, lets not resort to violence:
I am trying my best to ensure that nomore violence erupts again and hopefully the law can be allowed to mediate between the parties:
