New Dawn FM News
The Bougainville Senior Appointments Committee at its meeting yesterday resolved to establish two separate boards of inquiry to investigate allegations of misconduct made against the Secretary for Community Government, WESLEY KENNETH and the secretary for Treasury and Finance, BRENDA TOHIANA.
The allegations are contained in two separate petitions delivered to the committee by the Acting Chief Secretary, THOMAS RAIVET on May 21st, 2018.
The Committee has identified a highly qualified person to conduct the investigations and is presently awaiting his availability.
A further announcement will be made in the coming days once the details have been finalized.
It is expected that the work of the boards of inquiry will commence shortly.
The senior appointments committee requests all concerned to support the investigation, to enable these matters to be resolved swiftly and fairly.
The two secretaries will be given the opportunity to defend themselves against the allegations, and everyone is encouraged to extend to them the presumption of innocence, to which they are entitled.
The Committee has decided that MR. KENNETH will be suspended from office on half pay until the investigation is completed.
MS. TOHINANA however will not be suspended during the investigation of the allegations against her.
At the conclusion of the investigation, the board of inquiry will report its findings and recommendations back to the senior appointments committee to decide what actions (if any) is to be taken.
