120618UPE COVERED BY LAW
New Dawn FM News
The issue that was raised by owners of the UPE recently is now addressed by the Bougainville Parliament.
This afternoon the ABG President Chief DR.JOHN MOMIS presented to parliament a proposed bill that will be enacted as a Bougainville law to safeguard indigenous properties such as the Bougainville emblem and other traditional properties.
The law once enacted will make any individual who destroys the UPE can be fined TEN THOUSAND KINA and for Corporate entities to be fined ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND KINA.
Destroying means printing like what business houses have done to print these emblems on thongs and under-wears in the past.
The bill went through the first reading this afternoon and is yet to pass through the second and third readings before it becomes a Bougainville law.
