071217 –Training for ABG Community Government Officers

The UN Women who had extended their support in designing and printing of Community Government Act 2016 have once again stepped in to support the Community Government Officers in terms of staff training in preparation for the 2018 planning and also in preparation for Referendum Readiness.
Through their initiative, the Department of Community Government will be conducting a one week workshop at Tsiroge Catholic Mission from 11th to 15th December for the Community Government Officers and District Officers who are currently acting Community Government Managers or CG Managers.
According to their requirements, the workshop targets the establishment s of the Ward steering committees, the financial processes and the Referendum readiness in preparation for the 2018 planning.
The participants are required to complete the establishments of the structures at the ward level as it is very important for the 2018 bottom- up planning process. The ward steering committees should be established before 2018.
The objective of the training is, to run a training of trainers for the CG Managers and Admin Officers in the Ward Steering committee guidelines; for Community Government to understand the budget cycle in preparation for the 2018 plans; in readiness for referendum, the community Governments is aware and prepared for the Referendum activities in 2018 and to educate the admin officers on the financial procedures and processes within the community Government.
The outcome thereof is to establish ward steering Committees as per Community Government; conduct key activities for referendum readiness; understanding the procurements process for Community Governments; make sure there are transparency and accountability in Community Governments and Understand the planning and Budget cycle for 2018 onwards.
