The President and First Lady of the Autonomous Region of Bougainville
The immediate Family of the late Minister and Member for South Bougainville Hon. Steven Pirika Kama; and,
The people of South Bougainville
The President and First Lady of Bougainville together with all members of the Bougainville Cabinet and Members of the Bougainville House of Representatives extend to you our most sincere condolence on the passing on of your husband, father and Member
Late Steven Pirika was a man of few words but indeed a man of action.
My government acknowledges the tremendous contributions made by late Steven Pirika on various infrastructures in South Bougainville
The number of classrooms in various schools and number of health centres and aid posts plus main roads and access roads made possible by late Steven Pirika from his District Support Improvement funds and the number of churches programs and infrastructures he assisted, all speak volumes of the commitment and dedication the late Member had for his people.
The successes he has encountered in his business enterprises was an added impetus for the late Member’s determination to raise the living standard of his people a little closer to where he was. And this was a critical factor to whatever political ambitions he may have had.
Even ill health did not deter the late Member from his desire and determination to see South Bougainville improve to the level he wanted for his people
He was indeed a man of a few words, driven by the desire to see the people of South Bougainville improve their standard of living
Our upcoming leaders would do the late Member proud to emulate his leadership qualities which has its roots in these words “action speaks much louder than words
Late Steven Pirika was a close personal friend to me. My government will surely miss him.
May his soul rest in eternal peace with his maker
President John L Momis, MHR, GCL
