BY JENNIFER NKUI
The information session held today by the Australian High Commission turned out to be a great success with a very good turn up and participation by representatives from both the public and private sectors.
The information session held at the Lamankoa Guest House saw facilitators David Bloch from DFAT, Programme Manager at the Australian High Commission Belinda Maree Gara and Peter Pim from the Foreign Aid Division in the Department of National Planning explain to participants’ phase 4 of the Incentive Fund Grants Programme.
As explained by the facilitators, the aim of the Incentive Fund phase 4 is to attract, identify and incentivize high performing organizations to expand, reach coverage and quality of their contributions to service delivery and or economic development of markets, schools, health, aid posts, clinics, hospitals and bridges.
A total of K160 million has been allocated for the phase 4 of the Incentive Funds programme and according to the facilitators the minimum funding allocation will be from K10 million and above.
Funding can only be awarded to high performing organizations or organizations that have been operating for some years now.
The main thing that is always taken into consideration before funds are released is the financial sustainability of organizations which according to the facilitators is always the main factor that affects proposals from many organizations.
The information session was well represented by representatives from the churches, COE’s, business houses, the media, the ABG administration, heads of departments, primary schools, secondary schools and the general public.
Meanwhile, the principle of Hutjena Secondary School Martin Takali has asked if the funds for phase 4 of the Incentive Fund Programme for Bougainville be allocated separately from Papua New Guinea because Bougainville is now and Autonomous region.
In response the facilitators said they would take note of that raised question and have it discussed with their superiors.
