I see that a number of comments from some people have some relation to the comments I made earlier expressing my views about who I feel are needed in key leadership positions, especially at this point in Bougainville's political history. It is very good to see people from different backgrounds expressing their views without restrictions. Some comments indicate that a position has been taken, while others indicate peoples' desire and willingness to work for the common good irrespective of whoever takes power. It is all very good; however I do not want to be misinterpreted for something I never intended in expressing my views. Of course, I do not intend to see the older breed of quality leaders like Momis and his colleagues hold power, if all of them happen to win, any longer than is necessary for them to set the 'new bougainville' on a politically and administratively secure course. I only believe that under the current circumstances where we need to tread carefully with the new legal, political and economic arrangements with their envisaged but untried advantages and disadvantages, we need such leaders with intellectual foresight and the hindsight of history, to make some good differences for a better and more secured future. It is perfectly alright for one to dislike them for whatever reason he or she may have but I believe we need them now, while the future unquestionally belongs to the young leaders. There is nothing that is so revolutionary as to render our elder leaders of no use in steering the course of the 'new Bougainville', of course, together with assistance from the younger leaders. Let us not jump off the cliff and plunge to our death convinced by the agrument that elder leaders are now out of steam or have old fashioned ways of doing things in a new age and spirit of the times. This kind of argument is irrelevant in the case of Bougainville at this juncture of its political journey. In fact, there is nothing that is really new under the sun.
Whatever past mistake had been made by Momis, Hannet or Alexis Sarei with their other colleagues, I believe that, like others, they too are children of history and, would have learned some good leassons. A repetition of a past mistake would be a sign that a leader has never learned or at worst, has gone crazy for some reason and do not know where he or she is heading. I believe they are leaders who know that the wheels of history keeps on turning and I believe some good lessons have been learned otherwise we will not make much progress according to whatever expectations we set for ourselves. From the way I see things, I can say that I am seeing Bougainville people's intelligence at work in history and for me, this is gratifying. I think that ultimately what is important is not so much who wins the presidential seat but to work together as a team whether its Momis, Tanis or someone else who wins. This is a must.
May the Good Lord Bless Bougainville and may this short poem help disturbed younsters find peace within themselves.
.......................
I want to misbehave
I want to travel afar
I want to runaway from home
Something calls me
Something out there beckons me
I have seen that house before, that was my house
A moment ago I had wondered who lives in that fearful abode
Now that you have come to my doorstep
I will go back and live in that house.
Thank you

If those who voted for Siara, Miriori and the other candidates had voted Tanis as their second choice, Tanis is definitely picking up in the second elimination count and going for a win.
