Chief
Executive Officer for the Division of Health on Bougainville, Dr Anthony
Pumbara, today thanked NGO’s and aid partners who continue to support the ABG
in its role of providing much needed services on Bougainville.
Dr
Pumbara thanked World Vision, Care International,Caritas, Leprosy Mission
International, Leprosy Mission New Zealand, AusAID,NZAID and UN agencies.
He
was speaking at the handover ceremony of the 18 hospital beds for the Sinkodo Health
Centre in the Bana District.
He
said Bougainville needs to appreciate the assistance it receives from donors as
the government does not have enough to distribute to all the areas.
Dr
Pumbara said his division has opened 32 health facilities and will continue to
open more which were closed during the Bougainville conflict.
He
said because of these challenges his division is pleased to work in partnership
with NGO’s to improve the delivery of health service throughout the region.
