Buka General Hospital received four boxes of medical
equipments from Brisbane friends last Friday.
The equipment worth K10 000 was officially handed over to the
hospital CEO Dr Cyril Imako by Dr Barnabas Matanu.
The brand new equipment included thermometers, blood
pressure units, digital blood-testing kits and other material.
Dr Matanu said it was an early Christmas present for the hospital
and the equipment will greatly help the delivery of clinical services.
Dear Dr Imako
In 2003 I had the privilage of being part of a team of othopods that spent 2 weeks operating at Buka Hospital, since then I have not stopped thinking about the amazing work your people do with such limited resorces. On my return to the Australian hospital system I became so aware of the terrible waste our country has. I did manage to send some equipent a few years ago, It was a very difficult exercise. I now would like to try and organise a shipment again as I have access to some valuable medical supplies. I am hoping that this could be on going. I need a contact person at your Hospital whom I can Liase with.
Hoping to hear from you soon.
Regards
Rosemary McDonald
